STOP PRESS . . . STOP PRESS . . . STOP PRESS

from Comittee Member, Lisa Siegel

Tallowwood Sangha is looking for someone special....

We want to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to a very dedicated Sangha member, Jaki Lockyer, who has maintained the Tallowwood website over the last five years with much care and great love. She has done a wonderful job but is now ready to hand this task over to someone else.

If you have some experience in this area and would like to extend your Dharma practice by volunteering a few hours a month to keep our website up to date, please contact us at tallowwoodsangha@gmail.com.

And now for our more usual introduction:

Welcome...

Tallowwood Sangha is based in Bellingen on the east coast of Australia.  The Sangha provides an opportunity for people to come together and explore and inquire into what it means to live a free and authentic life. It promotes the teachings of the Buddha that point to seeing clearly into the truth of this unfolding life and to the practices, including meditation, inquiry and investigation that bring a sense of ease and freedom to one’s life.

Tallowwood Sangha follows the Insight tradition and also supports other local dharma practices such as the Bellingen Zen Group.

Insight Meditation, known as Vipassana in the Theravada Buddhist tradition engages in the practice of ethics, mindfulness, depths of meditation, opening of the heart and wisdom teachings.

Our Sangha offers an environment of trust and care that enables us to explore and question all the views and beliefs that separate and isolate us from each other and from the world.  All are welcome - with no discrimination based on Dharma experience, race, religion, socio-economic status, gender, or sexual orientation.

Tallowwood Sangha is a not-for-profit association that organises Dharma events in order for us to take full advantage of the different forms of practice available e.g. meditation nights, morning meditation, monthly mornings of mindfulness, bi-monthly days of meditation, meditation retreats, dharma study and dharma gatherings.

Many people contribute to the wonderful events that Tallowwood Sangha organises and hopefully these events have helped and will continue to bring insight and freedom into many people’s lives.
